Bio/

Hello! My name is Samuel Sunderland and I am a peruvian american actor. Yes, I speak fluent english! I was born on January 23 rd 2004 in Lima, Peru.

My acting career started when I was 11 years old, when I was part of the drama play “King Oedipus” in 2015, produced by Teatro La Plaza, in which I was lucky to act next to renowned local actors as Pietro Sibille and Paul Vega. My character was the Greek Chorus which was played by 3 kids, in a risky and challenging move by director Jorge Castro. I learned a lot in this role because the scripts were long and complicated with a great dramatic load. Finally the result was worth the effort because we completed a successful two and a half months and the play won the local Premio Luces 2015 award in the Best Theatre Play category. It was amazing!

In 2016 I was asked to host, together with other kids, the first season of the documentary and reality TV show “Cazaventuras” produced by Identidad Peruana, a cable TV channel, which presented several topics of interest investigated from the children´s perspective. I enjoyed this experience very much because it allowed me to meet a lot of people in interesting activities, and I learned to work on TV hosting a show. It was a lot of fun!

On the same year, I acted in my first movie! I played “Augusto” in the peruvian film “Guerrero” (2016), directed by Fernando Villarán and produced by Tondero Producciones. The movie told the story of the childhood of the international soccer player Paolo Guerrero. I had a blast during the shooting, building a character that was not like me, and working with a big and important production team.

In 2017 I was in another movie! (I was in a row!), “Gemelos sin Cura” (2017), directed by Carlos Landeo and produced by Star Films, in which I played “Roberto the altar boy” and shared scenes with the peruvian comedian Armando Villanueva, known popularly as Melcochita, and other renown actors as Claudia Dammert and Hernán Romero. In this movie I was able to explore much more acting comedy in film, and I loved it!

Also in 2017 I was casted to be part of the new peruvian TV series “De Vuelta Al Barrio”, with the direction of Gigio Aranda and produced by América Televisión, in which I played Pedrito “Pichoncito” Bravo, the 12 year old son of the main character played by the renowned actor Paul Martin. The TV series airs in prime time is settled in the end of the 1970s decade in Lima, Peru. I´m so happy to be part of this amazing cast and crew because every day I learn so much from my fellow cast members, successful local actors like Mónica Sánchez, Lucho Cáceres, Adolfo Chuiman, Yvonne Fraysinnet, Teddy Guzmán, Diego Bertie, among others. We have so much time while shooting the series!

In 2018 we continued in the second season of “De Vuelta al Barrio”, which is the most viewed current TV show in Peru, and is also aired in Bolivia and Ecuador.

Academically, I have taken acting and improvisation classes, as well as advance tap, musical theatre, singing and dancing. As I loved the movie making process, I took production and direction classes and I have my YouTube channel in which I share fun videos created and produced by me, with my personal touch. Currently, I´m also developing my first script of a short movie that I expect to shoot soon.
